Bid on Neil Peart signed drum head used on "All The Worlds A Stage" tour

The owner of Chromey has put a 16" Evans hydraulic drum head up for auction that was used by Neil Peart on the All the World's a Stage tour. (Neil also signed the head in 2010.) All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross to support the relief effort for the EF5 tornado that struck Oklahoma on 5/20/2013.

The auction ends on Jun 06, 2013 17:24:18 PDT.

Neil Peart Used Autographed Drum Head from "All The Worlds A Stage" Tour | eBay

From the auction listing:

Up for auction we have a very rare and historical piece of music memorabilia for any Rush fan or collector. An original 16" blue hydraulic drum head that was mounted on Neil Pearts first drum kit with Rush (1974 chrome Slingerland). This head was used during "All the Worlds a Stage" tour and was later signed by Neil Peart himself on 9/26/2010.

All proceeds from this auction will support the American Red Cross towards the relief efforts of the violent EF5 tornado that struck Oklahoma on 5/20/2013, destroying neighborhoods and leaving a path of destruction 17 miles long which may have created $2 billion or more in damage as it tore through as many as 13,000 homes, multiple schools and a hospital. This has been a major disaster, and the Red Cross will be there for the people in this state and this community, which helps provide food, shelter and emotional support to those affected by disasters like the recent tornado in Oklahoma as well as other disasters throughout the United States.

Original Neil Peart Tama Artstar kit up for auction

Neil's red, Tama Artstar prototype kit used from 1982 - 1985 on three albums and three tours is up for auction (again).

Click to go to the auction site.

image

This kit was used to record Signals, Grace Under Pressure, and Power Windows.

Here's a history of the owners of the kit since Peart:

Jack Hess won it as part of a Neil Peart drumset giveaway in 1987 and stored it in his basement until August 1999. He sold it on eBay for $26,100.

The second owner was Scott Jemm, who displayed them until 2002. He sold them on eBay for $14,621.12.

Robert Telleria, author of Rush: Merely Players, helped the new owner restore the drums and eventually bought the kit himself.

Now the drums are being auctioned on Julien's Live.

Bid on a unique, autographed "Snakes & Arrows" snare drum

As part of the Adventures of Power Online Auction to Support VH1 Save the Music, there's a unique "Snakes & Arrows" snare up for auction. Neil will sign this drum for the auction winner.

image

This appears to be a different "Snakes & Arrows" model compared to the usual "Aztec Red" model. I think it's similar to the Connoiseur 'Snakes and Arrows' snare, although the wood looks different.

Neil Peart's first Slingerland kit sells for $25,100.00 on eBay

Update - 8/9/09 - The drum kit sold for US $25,100.00 with 53 bids.

As for the future of this kit, it looks like the kit will be displayed in a museum or other public venue. Michael D.F. Lowe, of NeilPeartDrumSticks.com, added this comment on Rushisband about the sale and possibilities about where this kit may end up:

Well the auction is over and the kit was won by a great guy and serious RUSH collector. :-)

No, not me. I do know who and just got off the phone with him. Good news is that it won't be locked away in a basement. It won't be going to Toronto either.

We were discussing ideas of where it can be displayed for all to see. Right now we are talking my personal favorite place is the Percussive Arts Society Museum in Indianapolis. This museum is also host to the International Drummers Hall of Fame.

They have quite an impressive collection of drum kits including some used by Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa. How nice would it be to have this kit displayed alongside Buddy and Gene's?

We are also discussing another venue to display it at for one week but that will be announced later after arrangements are made.

This is going to be a fun project to work on! I think you will like what might be done with the used heads off the drums. :-)

RUSH On!
-Michael

---------------------------

Neil's first Slingerland kit, which was used in the recording of Fly by Night, Caress of Steel, 2112, and All the World's a Stage is currently on eBay. The auction ends on Aug 09, 2009 10:15:12 PDT and is being held by Main Drag Music.

Go to the auction page here.

NEP's Slingerland kit

Main Details (from Main Drag Music):

There are a total of 11 drums and this set DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SNARE. The sizes are as follows: 6, 8, 10, 12" Concert Toms in Copper Wrap, (2)9x13, 10x14, 16x16, (2)14x22 and a 13" Timbale all in Chrome Wrap. There are tom holders on the bass drums; a Slingerland Set-O-Matic on the Stage Right drum and a Ludwig Rail-Consolette mount on the Stage Left drum.

The heads, with the exception of the 10x14, are all-original and in the same tuning as the set was received. They consist of Evans Rocks on the toms (Mirror Glass batters, clear blue, like Hydraulics on resonant side), Ludwig Silver Dots on the concert toms, and Remo CS's on the Batter side of the bass drums. The bass drum resonant heads are one of the more interesting features of the set in that they have the original silver foil applique saying "RUSH" on each head as well as "Neil" on Stage Right and "Peart" on Stage Left.
