Rush Timeline at

John at has put together a beautiful, interactive Rush Timeline on his site that captures important dates in Rush's history. As John writes in the introduction:

As Rush begin the celebration of their 40th anniversary since the release of the band's debut album, and as Cygnus-X1.Net itself approaches its 10th anniversary later this year, I decided it was time to honor both occasions with a new section to this site: The Rush Timeline...

So, after many months of research and coding, the Rush Timeline is now online and contains well in excess of 200 entries covering not only album release dates and tours, but other significant events and accolades of the band and its members.

As a fellow Rush webmaster, I fully understand how much work a project like this involves -- even if the end result appears effortless. I want to congratulate John on creating an excellent Rush resource for all the fans to enjoy -- and also look forward to seeing future updates. Great work, John!

Neil Peart to be featured in Kickstarter book "From the Riser: A Drummer's Perspective II"

Update: March 9, 2014

I received the following mail on March 8:

I just wanted to than everyone who has pledged towards my book. I haven't reached my target to launch the book but I am still grateful to everyone who has supported this project and to the many people who have helped to promote it. I don't have the funds to launch this book so I will put it on ice for a year and maybe have another go at trying to raise funds for this in 2015. Feel free to follow my Facebook page for any news on my next project ( see ) and my website

Neil Peart will be one of over 100 drummers featured in a new Kickstarter book project by David Phillips: From the Riser: A Drummer's Perspective II. Peart will also write the introduction.

As with any Kickstarter project, the book won't be funded unless a certain goal is met. According to the site, "This project will only be funded if at least 12,000 is pledged by Sat, Mar 8 2014 7:59 AM PST." This also means (according to the Kickstarter FAQ) that your credit card won't be charged unless the project moves forward.

To pledge this book, go to the Kickstarter web page. (Note that the site will convert Pound Sterling to other currencies.) You can pledge for as little as 1 Pound Sterling (about US $1.64 as of this posting.)

This book is a follow-up to Phillips' A Drummer's Perspective: A Photographic Insight into the World of Drummers, published in 2010 (and also featured Peart).

From the Kickstarter page:

'From the Riser: A Drummer's Perspective II' is a stunning collection of over two hundred live action drumming photos brought together in a large format coffee table book. Plus the foreword is written by the drumming legend Neil Peart of Rush.

This project has been three years in the making and features more than a hundred drumming legends. The book aims to celebrate the world of drumming by taking you behind the scenes and showing you drummers doing what they do best. These images capture the raw emotion and sheer excitement of playing live: you'll be able to see the view from behind the kit on stage in front of tens of thousands of people, get up close to the action at sound checks and see exceptional shots of some of the most amazing rock concerts and festivals.

'From the Riser' follows on from 'A Drummer's Perspective', David Phillips' first book, which was published in 2010 to wide critical acclaim and is regarded as one of the definitive photographic books on drummers. Modern Drummer magazine when reviewing 'A Drummer's Perspective' said ".it's a treat to pore over his high quality portraits" and Rhythm Magazine said ". the images are top notch and give the kind of close insight into some of the world's finest drummers and their set-ups that many people can only dream of."

The new book features more drummers, more pages and even better pictures. The powerful images and text aims to give a fascinating insight to the drummers, their playing and their world. By publishing this book I hope to share a little of their unique life with you and show the world what they do.

Clockwork Angels graphic novel preview and interview

Kevin J. Anderson and Neil Peart were recently interviewed by Comic Book Resources about the Clockwork Angels graphic novel. In the interview, Peart talked about his relationship with comics:

"Comic books entertained me, delighted me, inspired me, and definitely taught me a few things, too ... In Grade 8 I won a public-speaking medal for a speech about General Douglas McArthur that was 'researched' in one of the World War II comics that were also popular in that era."

Also included in the article are a few preview pages. Click the image below to see the preview:
